2019-2020 Magnet Summer Waitlist Application

Please read the following information before completing the summer waitlist magnet application..

Completing the summer waitlist magnet application in no way implies that every applicant will be offered a magnet seat for the 2019-2020 school year.

Orange County Public Schools offers magnet programs for students entering grades K-10. Students must reside in Orange County, Florida, and be eligible to apply in order to begin the application process.

The electronic application will be the only application accepted for the summer waitlist. Summer waitlist applications are placed after any existing waitlists generated by the second lottery in April.

All information on the application must be complete and correct. Incomplete applications cannot be processed.

The application must be submitted electronically before the deadline of midnight, August 1, 2019. Students must meet the eligibility requirements of the program for which they are applying. Students may only apply for one magnet program summer waitlist. No duplicate applications will be allowed.

The Orlando Gifted Academy is only for students who will be entering grades 2 - 6 for the 2019-2020 school year. For more information on the Orlando Gifted Academy, please see the bottom of this page.

For middle and high school applicants who are not currently enrolled in an OCPS school, for example, your child is currently enrolled in a private school, charter school, or home school, please be ready to upload the student's most recent final report card. The application will not continue without uploading this document. Multiple pages or pictures for one school year should be scanned and saved in one document. Please note: only .pdf, .jpeg, .png, or .gif files may be uploaded.

One choice is allowed on the application, and only one application per student is permitted. Once submitted, the choice cannot be changed. Submitting an application does not guarantee placement. All eligible applicants who meet the application deadline will be considered for available seats in the order applications are received.

After you have submitted the electronic magnet application, you will receive a confirmation number listing the magnet program you selected. This confirmation number in no way implies that the application is complete and eligible for the program for which you have applied. All required documents must be submitted at the time of application. Please print the confirmation page and keep it for further reference. If there are any problems with the information on the confirmation page, contact School Choice Services immediately via email at magnetoffice@ocps.net. Please include the student name and program for which you are applying in your email.

Eligible students who submit summer waitlist applications by the deadline of August 1, 2019, will be notified if a seat becomes available, via email sent to the parent email address listed on the application. This email is considered the official notice of a magnet program offer. Students who are offered a seat in a program must accept the seat within five (5) business days of notification. Failure to accept the seat will forfeit the offer. The seat offer notification will provide directions on how to register.

Transportation is not provided for elementary magnet programs nor high school magnet programs. Transportation is provided to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at the middle schools, but transportation is not provided to the other middle school programs. If a student is enrolled in a magnet program at his or her zoned school, the student will be eligible for transportation according to district policy. If a student is offered a seat in the Junior Achievement Academy of Leadership and Entrepreneurship, please check with the Oak Ridge High School staff regarding transportation.

Orlando Gifted Academy Applicants Please Read Below:

Orlando Gifted Academy is only for students who will be entering grades 2 - 6 for the 2019-2020 school year.

Parents of CURRENT OCPS Students:

Students must have been previously determined eligible for the gifted services at the time of application for the Orlando Gifted Academy selection to be a valid choice.

  • If your child has been previously determined eligible by OCPS for gifted services, please complete the application. Do not upload any documents.
  • OCPS students who have been previously evaluated outside OCPS and who would like to request a document review should contact your student’s zoned school. This includes private evaluations, out-of-county evaluations, and out-of-state evaluations.
  • If your child is an OCPS student who has not been previously determined eligible for gifted services and you wish to apply for the Orlando Gifted Academy, please contact your zoned school.
Parents of NON-OCPS Students who have not qualified for gifted services or students previously evaluated outside OCPS, please contact your student’s zoned school:

  • Students must be determined eligible for gifted services at the time of application.
  • Parents of non-OCPS students who have been previously evaluated outside OCPS, should contact your student’s zoned school. This includes private evaluations, out-of-county evaluations, and out-of-state evaluations.
  • Parents of non-OCPS students who have not qualified for gifted services and who would like to request gifted evaluation should contact your student’s zoned school.
